Adoptable – for Dog Rehoming

Adoptable.co.uk is a private website dedicated to helping rehome unwanted dogs and other pets. You’re currently on a website which relates to dogs, so it’s likely that you have a dog of your own, or perhaps want to get a dog.  Although there are literally millions of dog owners in the UK and millions of others who share their homes with other pets such as cats, there are still too many homeless cats, dogs and other pets. We’re hoping you visited this page because you’d like to adopt a homeless dog.

Adoptable.co.uk was set up to help in any way it can to make rehoming pets easier. At any given time in the UK, there are something like 100,000 homeless pets, mostly dogs and and cats, not just adults but puppies and kittens too. The lucky ones are sitting in rescue centres right now waiting for you to adopt them but while dog rescue and rehoming groups do their best to rehome these pets, there are always more homeless dogs than adopters with around 50,000 pets joining the homeless lists each year. As animal lovers, we try to offer support to these voluntary groups.

Of course, it’s not just dogs in rescue centres that are in need of adoption. Many dog owners, no matter how much they care for their pets, find themselves in a position where they can no longer provide the right care or surroundings for their dogs. With many dog rescue centres full and unable to accept more, these owners struggle to find a new home for their dogs, and Adoptable exists to help these people too.

Adoptable.co.uk – helping adoptable pets

Run on a purely voluntary basis,  adoptable.co.uk,  allows both pet rescue groups and individual pet owners to advertise dogs, cats and other pets which are in need of rehoming. The site isn’t going to set the world on fire as it can’t easily be promoted without paying for advertising (and as it’s a totally free service which doesn’t even ask for donations that isn’t possible) but it is doing it’s part in making a difference. As a bare minimum, Adoptable helps by promoting those rescue organisations it lists.

Private dog owners and animal welfare groups can list pets that need rehoming on the site and anyone interested in adoption can contact the advertiser directly to ask about providing a new home. So, if you’re looking for a new dog and would consider adopting a homeless dog rather than buying a puppy, please visit adoptable.co.uk. If there isn’t a suitable dog in your area, have a look at the rescue centre listings and get in touch with one of them instead. It won’t hurt you to look, and in you find the right dog for you, you’ll be glad you did.

Unfortunately, just as the internet is polluted by spammers selling their usual rubbish, unethical puppy farmers constantly try to insert fake adoption adverts in an attempt to sell their dogs, so each and every advert is now manually vetted prior to being published.

Even if you don’t plan on adopting a rescue dog, please support Adoptable by visiting the website and clicking the ‘share’ buttons you’ll find on most pages, and sharing the site on your favourite social website. It’s all for a good cause and helping is free!
